Well of course!
Let me explain. Once upon a time I pretty much liked everybody except for a small few. Which I thought to be "Communistic" And now, the few that I hated I have learned to like. Not because of stern hard Moderation of forums and such but a realization that they, upheld the standard of the forum they moderated. Know what I mean?
My self the fighter of free speech came to realize that in its purist form is un doable. In essence, people love train wrecks! I kid you not!
One time I owned a 10 second drag car. Nice an all and ran strong every time. I was always consistent on the clock. As time went on I became better at that clock running 5s and 510s on reaction times. And if your consistent there you get in the win almost always or at the least get great points on Dial ins. One night, it was a normal TNT, Test n tune. I ran the ole Mopar hard. I wanted to really give it a work out. Boy did I ever!
About the 60ft I hit a slickie and spun. Hit the wall and then shot plumb over to the other side flipping my 340 duster twice! Total crash!
As I got out of the cage and looked at the smoke and rubble I saw the people in the stands. Standing, applauding raising hell! They loved it. Of course there were the few that saw what really happened and had concerns for my health and my crashed car. I went broke. And wrecked a sweet 340 4 spd A body! (see before Pic)
Now back to moral of the story here. I come to understand the people I posted on forums with, battled with, and debated and some that I come to call family and friends.
On the internet its pretty much anything goes in terms of forums, or blogs. When you have that many people in one avenue of communication there will always be the few that kick you in the nuts. Its a must! I founded a forum myself because of this few I refer to. And watched as this forum grew into more than I ever expected. And when it became, as Pantera sings its becoming as the few was.
Heavy moderation, is hidden when its "family" in question. In other words if you care for someone as a moderator and they get "pissed' and delete, ban, change passwords of such then by all means, its ok. Right?
Well not exactly. Not in my book anyway. But the problem I found was that as a so called founder of the forum I had no chance in hell. I let it grow into a nightmare as far as admin goes. I had no chance to correct the issue or resolve it. Why? Because it was already gone. By that I mean it had already been took over and done so over my head. No problem with that other than it hurt a few seconds. Then I got pissed and paid the favor back by showing their own dirty laundry. ( which I think now to be a bad choice )Only for a couple days though. Wasn't any point in over doing it as they have done to me with the innuendos of duel personalities. LOL, I still get choked up on that one!
But hell, Even I couldn't have come up with a better way to discredit a former figure on a forum. Especially when that former figure pointed out the injustice. Rather you like someone or not as a moderator right is right, wrong is wrong!
If there are rules, you abide by them or get the moderators input. If the rules get laxed that's ok to. But as a moderator you uphold your end of the deal as well. If a member pisses you off, no problem you deal with it. But utter deletions or better yet, change that members password then fuck with them? Explain to me the moral correctness in that one.
Now I Mention some names here only to point out a fact. Well, abbreviations any way.
Og, CH, AZT to name the "few" has made me realize that in its purist form freedom of speech is
explained here.
While an open free speech forum is a laudable goal, it's just unrealistic in it's pure form.
Og
Stay tuned for the 2nd part soon to come

Some lessons can't be taught, they have to be experienced.
Truth is any forum affords you free speech, as long as you abide by the rules or purpose of the forum.
Your analogy about car wrecks (I'll bet you CRIED over the loss of that car!) is so true. People like controversy and blood in the water. They like to see how much pain can be inflicted and how many tears they can bring. You hit the nail on the head with that one.
You know, the older I get, the more I realize it's just not worth it. It's not worth arguing and name calling. I'm plain old sick and tired of it. If it would stop and NEVER reappear, I'd gladly say, "YOU WIN!" Those to whom I speak know who they are and I hope they feel big with those two words. I've had it. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of not having anywhere other than blog posts and Outcasts where I can be me and not be mocked and made fun of.
Thanks, Bp, for your kind words but, really...I didn't do anything. I'm sure there are those who will say you're brain-washed. Let them. You've just come to a better place in the world all on your own. Good always finds a way in.
Yup. They win. Just let me retire and lick my wounds.
Come on, I want part two!
